Description
This is my test vehicle for coding with Arduino Nano. Rear wheel drive motors are controlled with a L298N. The 6 volt motors are N20 and 200RPM. There is an additional 5:1 reduction from the motor spur gears and the internal gear teeth designed into the rear wheels. The wheels are a larger hubless print-in-place design I came up with after posting a small toy version previously here. Their OD is approximately 111mm. I added two small holes on the inside of the wheel hubs to allow for a spray of WD-40 if desired. Ground clearance of the assembly is over 60mm. Front wheels are free wheeling and steer the vehicle with a MG996R RC servo.
I added an HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor on the front and it articulates with the front wheels, pointing in pretty much the direction they point. Steering linkages were designed to approximate Ackerman steering. Facing up over the servo is an SH1106 OLED display.
Just for fun, I added two yellow LEDs in the front and two red LEDs in the rear. The whole thing is powered by two 18650 batteries. Included is a wiring diagram for anyone interested in that. I may change this around in the future by adding additional sensors for autonomous operation, or a transceiver for remote control.
