Description
This PCB holder is intended for the rear port slot in the Checkmate 1500 case and provides space and retaining for the FPC attached ports PCB of a PiStorm32-lite (maybe other PiStorms too, dunno)
Note that I know exactly nothing about CAD, this model can likely be improved and I even encourage everyone to do that.
In the files you will find, besides the STL, also the source model in KCL, OBJ and STEP formats. The native format of this model is KCL - everything else is just an export.
This was created with Zoo Studio, so while it was created based on my measurements and trial & error testing this is still AI created work.
Just fit the ports into their holes, the PCB should fit into the holder nicely without further fixation and still be easily insert- and removable. If you plan to travel with the machine, or for moving, you maybe want to secure it additionally.
Note that you will need a longer flat ribbon cable to connect the breakout from that position. I've used 400mm 40pin 0.5mm pitch, which works fine.
Update 2026-05-01: I've finally finished my Checkmate build. After putting the case on the table and cabling everything I've noticed that you should really fixate the PCB with a ziptie or something. Depending on your HDMI cabling and display placement the HDMI cable can put enought force on the connector to angle the PCB in the holder (without actually removing it from the holder), at that point you will have to relieve the cable from the pulling force and reseat the PCB (can be done via the cable, no case opening needed). Someone more familiar with CAD should edit this so it has a better retaining for the PCB.
You may want to fiddle with them a bit, I guess you can easily use less infill. I wouldn't reduce the wallcount thought, for stability reasons.
I'm having quite a stringing issue currently when printing, so I had to postprocess it with a knife to get rid of all the strings. On a proper printer it will look better lol.
