Description
This is just my take on the commonplace hinged rugged box design. They're all much of a muchness, and mine was VERY loosely based on Yanev's design: https://www.printables.com/model/39729-tool-box-parametric
I literally just made an eyeball approximation of the box in his photos as more of a design exercise than anything else. It was intended to house a specific screwdriver set - see picture - but it can be used for a plethora of different things, simply by creating suitable insert pieces.
It's also one of those designs that just worked on the first print, even though I'd never tried anything like it before. It's designed to use six 20mm M3 domed Allen socket bolts that I had leftover from another project. Hopefully they'll be strong enough for the job. Time will tell!
I've tried them at both 0.24 draft and 0.20 standard settings with Sunlu PETG using my X1-C printer. No support was needed for either setting, but I can't speak for finer resolutions than those.
The plan was to add a seal to the channel on either of the case halves. But I haven't actually got any need for that at the moment. If/when I do design one, it'll only be a few minute's work, and I'll be sure to post it here.
As I'm seeing my granddaughters in a few days, I also chucked out a quick extra copy for each with their name on it - Hopefully they can use it as a pencil case, or a treasure box or something like that.
Aaaaaand since the eldest is going through a Pokémon phase at the moment, I naturally used an appropriate font. A little playing around in Bambu Studio gave me the colour layout I wanted for the text, and I've included the .3mf files for anyone who needs a box with either name. Won't be many, but you never know!
So that's it for now. Nothing fancy, but I hope someone can use it!
I'd better clam up now and let you get on with it!
Happy printing!
