Description
I read The Caboose Who Got Loose to my daughter a lot over the last few years. I thought it would be fun to design and 3D print my own "Katy" for her to enjoy traveling on daddy's railroad. It's a simple design, but I feel like it captures the essence of the character pretty good. This is designed for G-Scale, but I'm sure with a little work you can make scale this so it'll work on other scales as well.
Designer's notes:
It's designed to be printed with minimal prints. I included a DFX file which is a template of the windows. This was so I could use my laser cutter to cutout window inserts that I pre-painted to look like Katy's eyes. If you print the body in two halves (as I did), then I made some slots for 1/4" dia wooded dowels to keep the two halves of the body sturdy when glued together. You will also need some screws to hold the trucks/bogies onto the body at the pivot. I used 2mm self-tapping screws.
I want to help out other hobbyists, so I don't charge for my designs. However, if you like my designs and found this helpful, a tip is always appreciated. Tips can be sent to: http://paypal.me/sukotto88
