Description

The amp for my grandson's first sound system, a fun project for both of us. The amp takes bluetooth input from his phone and is more than loud enough for a kid's bedroom.

This is a remix of the compact case by guppyk2. The only problem with his design was the cover had to come off to access screws and screws are not ideal for kids who will trip over wires. Our remix has the same footprint, takes the same lid but is modified to accommodate spring terminals (specifically these). It does make the case 2-1/2 times taller, but hey -- some people asked for taller to accommodate a cooling fan on the heat sink.

I converted guppyk2's .stl to a .step and imported that to Freecad 1.1.1 as a template for the base dimensions and face cut-outs but everything is recreated and parametric from the ground up. I'm including the .FCStd file. Screw holes are sized for M3 machine screws (except the two circuit board mounting pads, sized for 2.3mm self-tapping plastic screws). Heatsert holes are sized 4.2mm to accommodate the brand I'm using. Measure your own to verify and adjust as required. Or simply undersize them to 2.9mm and let the M3 machine screws cut their own threads, there's not a lot of strain on the lid or feet.
