Description
Simple 3D printed phone holder designed to clamp onto a 20mm pole.
I originally made this to mount my phone onto my garden swing and my wheelchair, so I could position my phone easily without needing to hold it. It should also work for anything with a 20mm tube (stands, rigs, bike, frames, etc).
The holder uses a ball joint mount for adjustable angles, combined with a tray-style cradle that supports larger phones like the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
The clamp is a split bolt-on design, so you can attach it directly to a pole without sliding it on.
🔧 Features
Designed for 20mm diameter pole
Adjustable ball joint for positioning
Split clamp design (easy install/remove)
Fits large phones / Pro Max size
Functional, simple design
🛠 Hardware Needed
2x M3 bolts (22–25mm long)
Optional: threaded inserts (see notes)
🧪 Notes (Honest Version)
This is very much a practical “made it for myself” design:
The ball joint is intentionally tight and can be difficult to push in at first
I lightly sanded the nut internally to get the ball to fit through
Don’t sand too much or it will become loose
I printed the ball joint at an angle for extra strength, so it doesn’t snap when pressing it into through the nut
The joint was still slightly loose after assembly, so I added a small piece of tissue inside to increase friction — simple but effective and works for me
Threaded inserts are optional:
the holes go all the way through, so you can just use a bolt and nut instead
Depending on your printer tolerances, you may need to:
tweak scale slightly
add a shim/tape
adjust friction manually
💡 What I Did
I needed a way to mount my phone onto my garden swing and wheelchair, so I designed:
a simple angled tray for the phone
a clamp that fits a 20mm tube
a ball joint so I could adjust the angle easily
After printing, I had to do a bit of tweaking (light sanding + tissue bodge), and it’s been working well for me since.

Make sure bolts are tightened securely before use. Use at your own risk, especially on moving setups.
