Description

This is an organizer for some of the medication and the injection supplies for an IVF cycle. It is designed to keep the daily hassle of injections to a minimum. This organizer keeps all injection supplies and just a few doses of medication on hand, while the remaining boxes and vials are stored in the fridge or out of the way until you need to open them.

Compartments:

  • Documents: For your drug facts, protocol info, schedule, or any paperwork you want right there.
  • Pen injector: One Gonal F or Follistim pen. I ended up keeping a normal pen for writing in this compartment as well.
  • Syringes: Regular ol' syringes. This compartment fit about 15 3ml syringes. If you're on a long Lupron protocol, stock it with the syringes from that box first and then mix in some 3ml ones as you begin stimming.
  • Q-Caps: For easy mixing. You get 5 in each box of Menopur or Bravelle, and fertility clinics hand them out like candy. This slot can fit 6 at once.
  • Needles: The fat ugly needles that come on your 3ml syringes are NOT the ones you inject with, although they are easier to mix with if you don't have Q-Caps. This slot is for the 27 or 30Ga needles that you'll do SQ injections with, or the 22 or 25Ga needles for IM injections.
  • Prep pads: Lots of room here for alcohol swabs, and for gauze squares in case you start bleeding.
  • Medicine vials: Two compartments, each large enough for 4 small vials (Menopur, Sodium Chloride solution, Bravelle, etc) or 1 large vial (Lupron, PIO).
  • Pen needles: A slot for all the little needle caps for Gonal F or Follistim pens.
  • Syringe Rest: In case you need to put down the syringe, or you want to put the Gonal F cap down somewhere where it won't roll away.

On storage of medication: Every IVF protocol is different, and this storage is only suitable for medications that are stable at room temperature. Some medications that are stable at room temp may last longer in the fridge (e.g. Gonal-F, Menopur), so this is designed to keep only your next few doses at room temp. Some medications shouldn't be refrigerated at all (e.g. Lupron, PIO), and others should always be refrigerated (e.g. Cetrotide).

Additionally, some medications should be protected from light (e.g. Lupron, Del Estrogen). For these, keep them in the little carton, instead of leaving the vial out where it is exposed to light.

Double check on your drug facts sheets and call your nurse or pharmacist if you're not sure about any of this!

NOTE: The STL file is for the light blue print. The dark blue one is a first draft. The light blue one is slightly larger and can store 4 small vials in each medicine slot instead of the 2 each pictured. In addition, the updated design has thinner walls and fewer bottom layers for significantly faster print times. The 123D Design file is also attached if you need to customize the design.

PRINTING INSTRUCTIONS: You will need a 150mm x 150mm bed size to print this organizer. I printed at .3mm. Set your print speed to the fast side of normal; the long straight lines of the design mean that resonance issues will be minimized. I printed at 60mm/sec on a Printrbot Metal Simple, but would probably increase those speeds to 80mm/sec if I were to print it again.
