Pegboard Mounted Filament Spool Holder

This is a pegboard mounted filament spool holder.

I made the bracket 4x3 (pegs) for structural integrity, and I added extra sets of mounting holes so that you can double or tripple up arms on each bracket, or use them for accessories like the loc line ball mounts that can be used to mount cameras, lights, filament guide, helping hands, etc...

I highly recommend printing with ABS, as pla is much more brittle, and you risk the pegs snapping off with PLA. Definitely make sure your layer adhesion is calibrated well.

This setup can either just use an 8mm rod, or you can add 608 bearings to make it spin with less resistance.

You can download the little 608 bearing adapter, and spool adapter's there from the link above. You might have to remove a little material from the inside of the little rod/bearing adapter, but you want it to be a snug fit.

I used m3x16mm screws, and m3 nuts and washers to mount the arms to the pegboard bracket.

I used an m3x40mm and an m3x25mm screw, and m3 nuts and washers to mount the horizontal and angled arms together.

You can see the orientation that I printed everything in the attached pictures. Basically just lay everything flat and print without support. You will probably have to clean up the little bent pegs with a small file and/or a hobby knife. I only attached the right side horizontal arm, but you can just flip it along the appropriate axis in your slicer to print the left side horizontal arm.

Be very careful inserting the bracket into the pegboard. If you insert the bent pegs unevenly and try to rotate down, the torque can snap them off. If you need them to be more rigid, you can print the bracket vertically, with support, so that the layers are parallel with the pegs. This will obviously require more post-print cleanup.

UPDATE 8/28/2015: I designed some little ball mounts that mount to the extra holes in the pegboard bracket. I use the loc lines for all kinds of stuff, i.e. helping hands, light holders, and in this case, a filament guide.

I simply bend the nozzle on the loc line till it pops off, and i do the same with the little threaded adapter at the other end. I take the nozzle and send a m3x16mm socket cap screw through it, and screw it into the filament guide. I then snap the other end to the ball mount, and then screw the ball mount to the pegboard bracket.

UPDATE 8/29/2015 - I added slightly adjusted spindle adapters for 30mm id spools, and 50mm id spools. I also added slightly adjusted rod/bearing adapters. The originals fit tight and required removal of material. The new ones fit like a glove, at least on my printer.
