Originally developed in Norway, the Penguin missile became one of the first operational passive infrared-guided anti-ship missiles, offering fire-and-forget capability without relying on radar — making it highly resistant to electronic countermeasures.
Historical Background:
The Penguin Mk.3 entered service in the late 1970s–1980s and was later adopted by the United States as the AGM-119A.
