Description
Here is a knife and scissors sharpener.
Please prefer v2 of this design which is a much better gimbal system with no backlash and a smoother motion.
It uses diamond stones, two of them being positionned on the handle.
Ball bearings allow a fine utilization. Sharpening angles are easily determined.
This shparpener can be either 3D printed or laser cut into 5mm plywood.
If you laser cut, then use the dxf to cut all the part into one single plywood sheet (590x245 mm).
Then glue most of the part 2 by 2 to get a 1cm thickness, assemble the parts following pictures. 2mm toothpick could be inserted into the small holes to help you align the parts and add some strength to the assembly.
Insert the ball bearing (608Z roller 8mm shaft)). One single ball bearing is enough ! (see pictures)
If you print with 3D printer then use the stl files.
You can use "protactor Android App" to fine tune the sharpening angle between 13 to 30 degrees.
3x1cm neodymium magnets can be glued into the holes on the top plate to help fixing the knife. Glue the magnets on a flat surface so that they are at the same level than the knife plate. Then glue the knife plate to the to assembly.
To finish assembly you will need
