The Ruby pistol is a compact semi-automatic handgun chambered in .32 ACP. Designed and produced in Spain, it was adopted primarily by France to supplement the production of its official service pistol at the time, the Lebel M1892. However, much like the M1917 rifle in U.S. service, the Ruby ultimately surpassed the weapon it was meant to complement. By the end of the First World War, more than 750,000 units had been produced. Manufactured by over 50 different companies and appearing in numerous variants, the often-forgotten Ruby pistol reflects the urgency, industrial strain, and pressure faced by nations during the Great War.
This is a 3D-printed replica of the Ruby pistol, created to faithfully reproduce the appearance and mechanical layout of the original design. The replica is completely inert, non-functional, and safe, with no ability to fire and no operational firearm components. It is intended strictly for educational, historical, and display purposes. The use of 3D printing demonstrates how modern manufacturing methods can help preserve, study, and share historical military technology in a responsible and accessible way.
