Small Slide Lid Box with Magnets - Customizable (or ready to print)

 

Need to hide the spare key or some stash? These little boxes have a tight fitting slide on lid with magnet holes for easy hidding.

When customizing, the parameters are not validated. Use values that make sense and fully preview the model in Bambu Studio before printing. Here are some tips / suggestions:

• The “Mag Diameter” parameter should be the width of your magnet plus about 0.2 mm. e.g. 6.2 for a 6 mm magnet
• The “Mag Depth” parameter is the depth below the lid surface for the magnet. e.g. 0.4 mm or 0.6 mm 
• Preview the customized download before printing
• Prease comment or message me on how the Customize worked for you so that I can improve if needed

 

After you download your custom case, you need to :

• Select it (click it)
• Click "Split to Objects"
• Click "Arrange all objects"
• Click "Auto Orient" (lid should now be top / flat side down)
• Use a standard 0.2 mm layer preset. I personally like one wall on first layer

 

Feel free to add / remove magnet holes from the ready to print profiles. Easy to see in the “objects” list in Bambu Studio. Select one to easily scale (resize) or move. I suggest making these “negative parts” 0.2 mm wider than your magnet diameter. No glue should be needed. The lid is about 5 mm thick, so I make the magnet hole 4.6 mm deep and push the magnet right down. You can try 4.8 mm or even 5 mm for stronger attraction.

 

Remember to push the magnets all the way down for best results. More magnets obviously improve attraction. To help, you can add a cylinder “Part” 5x5x20 mm to the print and use it to tap in the magnet.
