Apple AirTag Wallet card

 

Convert an Apple AirTag to fit in a wallet and double its battery life. The card is just under 4 mm thick, making it half the thickness of a regular AirTag.

Materials:

• Apple AirTag
• Soldering iron and solder
• Copper tape
• Extra CR2032 Battery
• (Optional) Safety glasses and helping hand

 

 

Instructions:

1. Teardown:
   • Carefully follow a teardown guide, such as this one on iFixit: https://www.ifixit.com/News/50145/airtag-teardown-part-one-yeah-this-tracks
   • During teardown, focus on removing the speaker's copper coil without damaging it. So it can be used as a speaker. 
2. Battery Connection:
   • Important: Ensure both positive connectors are soldered together for proper functionality.

• Cut a small piece of wide copper tape and use it to connect the negative terminals of both batteries. Solder the negative wire from the AirTag to this copper tape connection.

• Cut a thin, longer piece of copper tape to connect the positive terminals. Solder the positive wire from the AirTag to this thin copper tape.
