Description

This eyelet is a simple slide to adjust and friction lock you rope. Perfect thimble to hold camping tarps and other non critical loads.

  • Rope : For a ⌀4mm paracord type-iii or 550 (Eyelet holes are ⌀6mm). Big openning is ⌀21mm.
  • Assembly : Nothing ! No bolts, no hardware, no glue, no assembly ... just print and use.
  • Adjust : No rope cutting: slide the rope in the bottom eyelet, pull to the desired position, exit thru the side eylet and loop in the top hole. 
  • Lock : To friction lock the rope, loop it around from the side hole to the central hole while snaking it underneath to grab it and pull on it to "friction lock" it. The more you pull, the more it grabs.

Uses only 7g of filament. 

Shown in Bambu Lab PLA Basic holding 35lbs (15.9kg ) for fun and demo purposes only. This eyelet is not for crital load bearing and needs a constant rope pull tension to perform well if friction locked. You can add a small knot. 

 

Daisychain : If you daisy chain them, its for very light duty only because the pulling force will be lateral.

 

Tie options : 

Option 1 : No knot - Pull to adjust, loop the tag end and friction lock it ;

Option 2 : Tie a little knot if you wish to have the eyelet permanently installed at the end of your paracord thimble.

Dimensions : 30mm wide x 45mm long x 10mm thick. Eyelet are 6mm ⌀ (to ease the snaking of 4mm paracord type 550).

 

Printing: Settings are for a 100% infill and lots of walls and bottoms, this is intentional to switch the layer lines printing direction to increase strength.  If you reduce walls or infill, you will not even save 1g of filament and maybe 5 min print time, worth the wait to have a solid eyelet.

No supports needed, to be printed flat on the bottom. Perpendicular hole will sag a little but the print profile of 0.16mm layers is to mitigate the sag of the rope tubes so they stay as round as possible.    

 

This eyelet adjuster will help secure your camping gear guy lines to the stakes or taps, ideal for hiking, tactical use, camping, crafting, kayaking, boating, utility and more. 

 

Other notes : The little groove on top of the model is intended to distribute eyelet pull strength by sharing the pulling load in a circular pattern since the eyelets are open on one side.  The side groove should help to prevent torsion of the first eyelet.  This design was not intended to secure critical loads or hand overhead objects, so use common sense while using them.
