The Island Project

I love islands—especially those with volcanoes. What started as a small holiday memento from a Tenerife vacation quickly turned into a deep dive into creating 3D models of interesting islands from around the world, many featuring volcanic landscapes.

These detailed 3D models showcase islands at various scales, optimized for the A1 Mini printing space. Each model accurately captures the unique topography and layout of the islands, making them perfect for geography enthusiasts, educational purposes, or as a decorative display.

To enhance the visual impact, the z-axis (height) is scaled by a factor of 2.5, emphasizing volcanic landscapes and mountainous terrain.

For better identification, I plan to include the island's name on the bottom of each print. Watch out: some older models might not yet have this update.

Print Details

I’m grouping island chains into single print files while also providing individual islands on separate plates. Print times vary from minutes to hours, depending on the island size. Filament usage is minimal, usually just a few grams per island.

🚨 Important: Be careful when removing prints! Due to shallow coastlines, some features might be thin and fragile. Wait for the plate to cool and remove the print gently.
