Description

Introducing Feed the Frog, a hilarious and engaging target game that turns your 3D printer purge pieces into flying fun! A mutant frog has busted out of its box, and the only way to save the day is to keep it fed! Whether you're looking for solo practice, friendly competition, or family game night entertainment, this hungry amphibian is ready to catch whatever you throw its way.

At its core, Feed the Frog combines aiming and timing of movement to create an experience that's easy to learn but challenging to master.

Game Components

  • 1 Spinning frog head and base with rotating mechanism
  • 4 Player launchers (one for each player)
  • Collection of "flies" (can use filament purge pieces or printed projectiles)

Printing & Assembly

Gameplay Setup

  1. Place the frog head onto the rotating base mechanism.
  2. Distribute launchers to each player.
  3. Place the game on a flat surface with enough clear space around it.
  4. Ensure each player has an equal number of projectiles.

Gameplay

Basic Rules:

  • Players take turns launching their "flies" at the frog's mouth as it rotates around.
  • The frog head rotates continuously, adding an element of timing and challenge.
  • Points are awarded based on successful catches by the frog.
  • The first player to reach the target score wins!

Game Variations

Classic Challenge (2-4 Players)

  • Take turns launching pieces as the frog spins around.
  • Score points for successful catches.
  • First to reach 3 points wins.

Speed Round (2-4 Players)

  • Take turns launching pieces as the frog spins around.
  • Most successful catches in 60 seconds wins.
  • Creates exciting chaos and requires quick reflexes.

Distance Challenge (1-4 Players)

  • Players move their launchers back after each successful catch.
  • Last player able to make a successful shot wins.
  • Great for testing accuracy and power control.

Target Practice (Solo Play)

  • Perfect for improving aim and timing.
  • Try to beat your personal best score.
  • Experiment with different launching techniques.

Game Tips

  • Use different colors for player launchers to easily identify them.
  • Consider printing extra projectiles to always have plenty on hand. You can repurpose 3D printer purge pieces instead of tossing them in the garbage or use marbles and other fun projectiles to mix up the challenge.

Safety Notes

⚠️ Aim only at the frog's mouth and never at people or animals.
⚠️ Keep small parts away from young children.

Design Intent

We've created Feed the Frog to be more than just a game, it's a creative way to repurpose those inevitable 3D printing purge pieces while providing lots of entertainment. The rotating mechanism adds an element of unpredictability that keeps the game exciting and challenging for players of all skill levels. Sometimes we just leave the frog rotating for some funny background decoration in our workspace.

Feedback

As with any new game design, we'd love to hear your feedback on how we can improve both the printed design and gameplay mechanics. Post your build photos, give us a download, and if you want to see more cool projects, give a boost! 🚀
