Description
A direct drive mount for an Ender 3 with a BL-Touch, a E3D v6 hotend, a BMG extruder and a pancake motor inspired by "The Tank" hotend with better cooling and filament path.
This is inspired by "The Tank" mount (but not a remix) which i was happy with except for a few simple things:
This part does not make the wire goes through hole which look a bit messier but make it easier to service.
This is Open-Source.
Print settings
Layer height: 0.2mm
Material: PETG (PLA should be fine too) for the case.
Support: No
Fan shroud: Fan_Shroud__Prusa_R3_extended_NF mount from Things 4139858. Since it place the mount exactly around the hotend, it needs to be printed in high temp material (used ASA, PETG was working too but was getting small deformation, PLA would likely not work).
Assembly instruction
The back housing is screwed on the hot-end carriage plate of the Ender-3 using M3 screws. The hotend screw hole create a snapfit, using a couple of washer and M3 screws secure the back of the housing.
The BMG extruder and the hotend is attached to the front housing along with the pancake stepper. The housing can then be secured to the back housing using to M3 screws.
The cooling fan for the hotend is secured with 4 M3 screws on the side.
The part cooling fan shroud (from https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4139858) fit in the insert on the bottom of the front housing and secured with a short M3 screw. Insert a M3 nut in the back of the part cooling support and screw it to the back housing with a M3 screw. Insert the blower in the fan shroud and secure it to the part cooling support with a M3 screw.
(optional) The BLTouch is secured on the right of the housing with M3 nut inserted on the top and using short M3 screws.
Secure the wire with zip tie in the wire guide on the back housing.
