Description

Dwarven Fortress - Monitor Riser

Crystal, treasures, and gold did flow - We the keepers of all things deeper

This dwarven inspired monitor riser is a tribute to the Dwarven Gods - May their hammers smile upon thee. It features two deep storage drawers and two rotating drawer compartments, plus a hidden drawer to keep your favourite quill or ye old USB drive containing all your smelting secrets. The modular design means you can expand the width to grant you even more storage space for all your unrefined ore.

Every piece of this riser can be printed on the mighty A1 Mini - as well as larger printers too, however, currently an AMS system is required to achieve true beauty. I am working on cutting up the models to be printed without an AMS - If this is something you are interested in, leave a comment and I will prioritise creating a Non-AMS version

Like the hardy Dwarf, this monitor riser is robust, strong, and beautiful. With interlocking panels, It can be assembled without the need for glue. It also prints entirely without supports and includes an optional rear expansion to accommodate deeper monitors.

The central hammer conceals an elegant and simple mechanism that pushes out the secret drawer using a switch disguised as a decorative gemstone. Below is an animation of the mechanism to help with assembly.

If enough people show interest in this model, I will work on adding alternative panels and drawer cover designs. As glue is not required, swapping covers and sections for alternative designs shouldn't be a problem. I hope you enjoy the fruits of my toils, for now this Dwarf must rest… Until next time!

UPDATE - 07/03/2025 -  Non AMS Version Is Here!

Never before has the "Split" button been smashed with such vigour, but I alone dare to press it the required number of times to deliver to you, a Non-AMS version of the Dwarven Fortress Monitor Riser! With feedback from fellow dwarven brothers and sisters, I have opted to minimise the need to perform manual filament swaps at the expense of more individual parts. However, I have included versions of some parts that do utilise manual filament swaps if you choose to go down that path or are having trouble with the small parts.

Caveat - Due to the larger number of parts and their small nature, some glue is required for the non-AMS version. AC glue can work well but use caution as I have experienced some discolouration of PLA from the vapours if I accidently use too much. If you have the patience, I recommend a longer setting glue, but do what works for you.

BONUS - I have also added an alternative front cover for the rotating drawers - The face on the original proved to be a challenge to print the tiny parts, so I made an alternative version which is easier to print.

The Non-AMS Version STL files have been added to downloadable folders, and I hope to add a print profile in the near future. So go forth brave dwarven kin and fire up the plastic forge! - and let me know how it goes, I love seeing your prints and your feedback is valuable to me  :)
