Mini Train - Functional Arctic Diorama

After the much liked first Mini Train Diorama: https://makerworld.com/en/models/1087051 i quickly decided to make a little series. This is the fourth Mini Train. A arctic scenery with a “snowpiercer” inspired train. A cute wooden house, igloo and an lake with swimming ice floes complete the design.

 

The new train is compatible to the previous designs. (Mountain V1.2)

This is a lovingly designed train diorama with an exciting function of letting the train drive.

The train runs by turning the hand-wheel on the outside, which is controlled by magnetic sliders. The little ice floas moving as well.

 

All printed parts are designed to get an good result with a 0,4 nozzle and with minimal color changes to reduce waste.

Printing:

Note that some parts are very small. Good adhesion is necessary!

 

Following PLA Basic Filaments are used 

White

Silver 

Brown

Cyan

Black → just the window from the train

 

Other colors are possible of course, look what you have in stock. 

 

I think it could be easy done with single color, if you want to color from hand. 

 

I printed with a 0,4mm nozzle! Iam very pleased with the result but you can try a 0,2 nozzle as well.

Assembly:

You need 8pcs round 4x2 magnets & 2pcs 3x2 (Or stack 3x1) magnets for assembly. 

• Insert Magnets in the train and ice floas all with same polarity (4x2 for train / 3x2 for ice floas)
• Insert Magnets in the 5 pins all with same polarity but opposite direction than before! The Pins must attract the train and ice floes

• Terrain on top and press trees in the holes. You can add a bit of glue to combine.
• Also glue the white roof to the house and press it in the terrain
• Place the train and ice floes to the magnetic position and have fun 😀👍
