Dovetail Guitar Neck Clamping Cauls - 16" Radius

This is a set of 3 clamping cauls for gluing on a dovetail guitar neck. I used them for gluing on the dovetail neck of a Stewmac kit guitar and made these cauls to match their instructions (they suggest wood).

Caul 1 - This fits an Irwin Quick Grip clamp (a little loose to slide easily) and is meant to fit under the soundboard to brace underneath the fretboard. I wanted it to stay on the clamp for a less fiddly placement going in and out of the soundhole. The edges on this one are rounded to minimize damage to the guitar if you ding it. 

 

Caul 2 - This is a 5-degree taper block meant for giving a flat surface on the back of a guitar (which is itself radiused) to clamp the neck against. I printed it with the flat side down so it could be labeled for the taper with an AMS. Because of this, the print quality on the tapered bit isn't stellar. However, I would highly recommend adding a piece of cork or rubber or felt to this surface anyways to prevent damaging the finish. I used cork and double-sided tape, but glue would work also. 

 

Caul 3 - This is a 16" radius block meant for providing even pressure to the fretboard. Like Caul 2, it is printed so that the label is down and thus the radiused surface does not have great definition. Again, I would highly recommended adding a piece of cork or similar here regardless, even if you remove the label and place it upright on the build plate. 

 

Pictures show the application and they withstood the clamping force I gave them (gyroid infill at 15%). I suspect the wood would give out first.
