Description

Boost MeA boost will help me gauge interest in continuing the design of different tiles for this project. Your feedback will show if there’s value in further development. Thank you!

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • The Tile is still under development.
  • Approval from Framework to use their Logo for upcoming tile design!

I used Frameworks' design schematics to recreate the tile from scratch in Fusion 360, incorporating design enhancements and optimizing it for 3D printing. While the original tiles were designed for injection molding, making them more durable, I believe my improvements will facilitate easier printing.

Current Tile Version: v0.3

V0.3 Release!

  • Brand new Vented Diagonal version now included.
  • Minor adjustments to snap points that secure to the frame. (Improved re-latch ability)
  • Now printing at 0.16mm layer height for better geometry.

V0.2 Release

  • Diagonal version now available.
  • Changed Elephants Foot compensation to 0.00.
  • Changed Print Wall order to Outer/Inner.

Improvements for 3D Printing (v0.1 - Initial Release)

  • Design recreation inside Fusion 360.
  • Removed injection molding ejector pin locations from the tile back surface.
  • Thickened hook base for improved durability during installation and removal.
  • Removed small overhangs from the outer edge of the tile.
  • Improved tile geometry.
  • Added a fillet to the internal side of all four corners to minimize warping chance.

Observations from testing:

  • Lower printing speeds improve cornering and geometry.
  • Lower speeds also help print the hooks correctly.
  • Due to the tile's thinness, warping possibility is high.

Recommendations:

✅ Clean the build plate before printing.
✅ Use slower printing speeds:
✅ If the printer isn’t enclosed, add a draft shield.
✅ If warping persists, add a brim as a last resort.
