Description

This is a quick release anchor and strap attachment that is obviously inspired by the Peak Design System. It works similarly, with a spring locking the anchor in place until you press down on the anchor and pull it out to release it.

DISCLAIMER: I have not load tested this! It's strong and I've had no issues, but it will vary based on material, print settings, cordage, etc. Please ensure yours is strong enough to support the force of your camera falling before you put too much trust in it!

Here's how it goes together:

  1. Print the parts. The Anchor with supports is pre-supported and has a little tab that you can pull on to remove the support piece.
  2. Use micro cord or paracord (or whatever you want, I guess) and make a loop about 4 inches long (8 inch circumference). For paracord, I just melt the ends together. A knot will not fit
  3. Place the cord loop into the anchor base with the know in the largest part of the cavity
  4. Apply some super glue to the top faces of the base
  5. Put on the top of the anchor and firmly press it. Make sure everything is flush or it won't work properly in the strap attachment
  6. Attach your strap. This can be made from anything really. I sew on some 1 inch nylon webbing here
  7. Feed the cord through your camera ring and then feed the anchor through that loop. Pull snug. You're all set!
