Ratchet Pepper & Salt Mill – A Fun, Clicky, Rattling and Interactive Toy

I wanted to create a realistic yet playful salt and pepper mill that captures the satisfying ratchet sound of a real grinder, so I modelled this decorative and kid-friendly pepper mill! 

My kids love it!

Inspired by the classic Peugeot mills, this model comes in two variants:

• Variant 1: Features a smooth turning motion and a satisfying "click" ratchet sound, just like a real mill when grinding. Simply choose the “normal Mill" Print Profile!

   

• Variant 2: Includes the clicky ratchet mechanism plus an extra rattle function inside the top of the mill! If you want the rattling choose the “rattle Mill” Print Profile! and shake it!

Satisfying Click & Ratchet Sound

The turning mechanism mimics the feel and sound of a real pepper mill, making it a fun, interactive toy or decorative piece.

Optional Rattle Feature

If you choose the rattle variant,
Simply fill the hollow top chamber with leftover

 3D print purge (aka "poop"), screw on the lid, and enjoy the extra sensory experience! If you're happy with the sound, you can glue the lid shut to prevent accidental opening.

Adjustable Turning Resistance

The normal mill consists of just three printed parts that easily assemble:

1. Put the two main pieces together.

2. Secure the bottom with the printed screw (really tight fit to prevent loosening you have to press it in a little bit).

   The slot in the bolt is used to tighten the bolt with a flat head screw driver.

3. Adjust how smoothly the mill turns by tightening or loosening the screw—perfect for customising the turning resistance to suit your child’s preference.
