I recently got the Carvera Air CNC, and while it’s an impressive machine, the stock dust boot left a lot to be desired. It felt like an afterthought—too much fiddling, a frustrating hose connection, and worst of all, no replaceable bristles.

 

So, I did what any maker would do… I designed my own! 🎉

 

✨ Key Upgrades:
🔹 Magnetic quick mount – Snaps on and off effortlessly. No more struggling to reattach it to the spindle mount!
🔹 Magnetic hose connection – The hose clicks right into place
🔹 Replaceable vinyl bristles – Swap them out easily instead of replacing the whole boot.

This was printed in PLA.

You will need the following:
(10) 5x3mm Magnets For Dust Boot
(4) 5x3mm Magnets For Dust Boot Connector
(4) 5x3mm Magnets For Hose Connector
(5) 5x3mm Magnets For Hose Mount

(4) M3 Hex Nuts
(2) M3x10mm Button Head Screws
(2) M3x8mm Button Head Screws

(1) 260x120mm 20mil Clear Vinyl (30mil should work as well)
 

IMPORTANT NOTES:

• WHEN INSERTING MAGNETS PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR POLARITY IS CORRECT!!
• YOU WILL NEED TO ADJUST SLACK ON HOSE TO ALLOW IT TO SEAT CORRECTLY WITH MAGNETS. OTHERWISE IT WILL DISCONNECT. 
   

Some people found that they did not have proper hose slack and the magnets would disconnect on lower Z movements.
To fix this I added a Hose Lock to prevent the hose from disconnecting from the boot. It still has some slippage but that does not affect the suction or use. It will just prevent it from totally disconnecting.

If you rather use the stock dust boot but want the quick connect feature you can choose the profile “Stock Dust Boot Magnetic Quick Connect”.

This will be for the following setup:

 

 

Make sure to use a tuned profile and dry filament. Things need to fit correctly here.
