Description
This Low Whistle in the key of D is based on my earlier Tin Whistle design, scaled up with a 22 mm bore and an acoustic length of 530 mm for a rich, mellow tone. It prints in three separate pieces, making it compatible with all Bambu Lab printers except the A1 mini.
Note: If you’re new to low whistles, have never played one, or aren’t sure how a low whistle differs from a tin whistle, consider starting with this model instead.
The version shown is printed in Bambu Lab’s PLA Metal Copper Brown Metallic, which gives it a beautiful finish and warm appearance.
Post-Printing Instructions - If you fail to remove the supports, the whistle will not work.
Labium Support: Carefully push the support into the whistle body. Do not press on the labium itself.
Assembly Notes
The joints are designed to friction-fit, but depending on your printer or filament, a bit of PTFE (Teflon) tape might help snug it up and prevent leaks. I haven’t used glue for my prints, but depending on your printer’s tolerances, a small amount of glue may help. Be sure no glue enters the bore — it should remain smooth and free of debris for the best sound.
🎶 Here’s a short video of how it sounds that shows the tuning. And here's a short video of it being played.
Enjoy your Low Whistle in D — and have fun making music!
