Description
This solar lantern was made according to my wife's request. It is designed to hold a certain amount of pebbles or gravel, which can add a significant weight to the lantern. The extra weight allows it to be hung from tree branches, helping to shape them. It works particularly well for maple trees that require shaping and fruit trees that need their branches weighed down.
You may want to add brim when printing those blades or the center basket, as shown in the picture below.
PETG is recommended. PLA will work and even grant more color options, but may not last long in an outdoor environment.
For the solar lamp, just search “round solar lamp replacement” on Amazon or eBay. Most of them are compatible with this design.
The top installation hole in this model is 74mm (2.91 inches) in diameter. Any lamp with a top size above this value (such as 3.15 in) and a bottom size below this value (like 2.76 in) will work.
You may find a much cheaper one elsewhere. The picture below is just an example.
Installation is simple forward. Push both sides of the blade into the top and bottom disks to lock them in place. Better to install the lower side before installing the upper side of the blade.
Better to add pebbles or gravel into the center basket before putting the solar light in.
Use a wider rope to hang the lantern on the tree
Hope you enjoy the upcoming summer!
