UPDATE 07/12/25 - Added a beefier 6mm Zip Tie cap and base.  This one has a larger disc diameter from 25mm to 30mm.  The Zip Tie lock has 4 locking tabs versus 3 on the 4mm one.  Wider locking tab also.  You should still print with ABS and not a brittle material.  Nylon would probably be the best, but as long as you use it once, it should be good to go.

UPDATE 05/11/25 - Added a cap with an extended tab for you to release the cap if needed.  I would not recommend using this multple times as it will break… but it can be useful for a one time removal.

Zip Tie Caps allow you to zip up two relatively flat surfaces together without having to wrap the tie around what you want to attach.  I offset the one side so that the discs match up and apply pressure correctly.

You MUST use ABS or PETG because there needs to be some flexibility with the locking tab mechanism.  My testing with PLA will snap off more easily.  Also, you should print at a low layer height so that the locking jaws print well.  I used .08 layers and it works great.

If anyone needs a different size or for a different zip tie, let me know.  I tested this with two seperate vendors of 4mm wide zip ties and it worked fine.
