SUMMARY

This model is a 6" tall statue of an anonymous figure inspired by the great Satoshi Nakamoto, the founder of Bitcoin. The model is comprised of layers with pegs and sockets that snap together.

PRINTING/ASSEMBLY

The model prints on default settings in Bambu Studio. For those using other slicers, you should only need to ensure your layer height is 0.2mm or lower and that you have at least 2 walls selected.

Once printed, the assembly is really easy. You can simply snap each piece together, but I recommend a drop of super glue on the pegs to ensure long term strength. The pieces each have markings aside from the furthest left and right pieces. Reference the photos if you're unsure of which pieces go on the left vs the right, but it should be pretty straight forward. For the rest of the model, simply match the numbers such that the faces adjacent to one another have the same number and snap them together.

  1. Starting with R10 and L10, attach the outer most pieces to form the left and right pieces. This is where you might need to reference the photos.
  2. Once you have those completely assembled, attach them to R9 and L9, then attach the feet as well.
  3. Next, you can simply attach the remaining pieces in order until you have two complete halves.
  4. For the middle, you'll have 3 loose pegs that will thread into the middle piece labeled with “R1” and “L1” on either side. If they're a little tight, you can use a pair of needle nose pliers of similar tools to rotate it to the correct position.
  5. Once those pegs are in place, simply snap the two halves together and you're done.

After assembly, please take lots of photos and leave them in the comments. I hope you love it!

UPDATE 8/14/2025:

Added a metal template version. This was designed with 13mm holes instead of connectors. You can use an M12 thread and nuts for spacing or just tack weld each plate in place for proper spacing. Either way, leave me comments or message me if this needs tweaked as I don't have the means to fabricate one myself.

UPDATE 7/8/2025:

For this update, I re-designed the connectors to prevent them from snapping while assembling. I've printed around 8 of this latest design and have had zero pegs break.

  1. Added small indents to the pegs to help align the far left and right pieces. Because they only have a single connector, they would rotate. This update now prevents free rotation and when manually rotated, you will meet resistance when rotating more than 5 degrees from the intended position.
  2. Added a larger shelf to the pegs so the pieces on the left and right no longer wobble. Instead, they will snap into place with a relatively even spacing across the entire piece. This should help in lining the pieces up significantly.
  3. The new pegs are more robust and have a larger tapered section so they snap into place easier, and hopefully this will allow the use of more brittle filaments without too much issue.

UPDATE 6/12/2025:

This update added a few new features and some quality of life improvements.

  1. Re-designed the pegs/sockets to properly snap together without glue and prevent them from breaking when dry-fitting/assembling.
  2. Moved some of the pegs/sockets to make the horizontal supports appear less visible when viewed from the front.
  3. Widened the space between the layers slightly for more visual effect.
  4. Re-designed the numbers/letters for matching the faces to be more intuitive.

UPDATE 6/3/2025:

This update features a few minor tweaks. The laptop had some thin sections that were pretty easy to bend or break, so I filled in the gaps to strength the middle pieces. Reorganized the X1/P1 plates to reduce the number of plates and increase print consistency and quality. Increased the X1/P1 peg sizes so they snap as intended. The H2D seemed to produce them as intended, but I found when printing on another printer it was too loose.

  1. Removed the thin section in the laptop so it prints and holds up better.
  2. Reorganized plates for fewer plates and better print quality.
  3. Resized the pegs for the X1C profile.
  4. Added a generic 3mf for the resized pegs.
