Description
Simple door plate replacement to allow door to be latched partially open. This gives enough room for cats to enter, but keep most dogs from getting through. Works great if you you keep your litter box in the bathroom. Would also work great to hold an exit door open for a breeze. Door works completely like normal with an extra hold position.
I have several dogs of all sizes. We also foster dogs for two rescues in our area. As much as we try to train the dogs to stay out of litter box, it just isn't always possible. I had decided to just cut a small hole in my bathroom door and then design and print a door. Looked on Amazon for ideas to end up seeing the Door Buddy. Seemed like the perfect solution except the strap version you have to constantly mess with and the prop version sticks out quite a bit. Found a similar model online, printed, and tested to see if it would even work for our situation. It had an angle like the door buddy that couldn't be printed flat. This caused it to catch on the door making an awful noise anytime it was used (terrible late at night). Then there is our 165lb mastiff that would just push it out of the way. After a week it broke due to flexing it out of the way to not make the noise. Decided to design one myself and fix the issues I was having.
The print profile uses a modifier to add strength where needed while leaving the rest with 0% infill. The design and use of 4 walls prevents the need to waste filament on infill. Can be printed with standard print profiles, but will use a lot of filament.
