Description

This 3D-printed yarn swift is designed for durability and string yarn.

The model in the picture was printed from PLA. At its core, a precisely integrated ball bearing ensures fluid movement, allowing your yarn to glide effortlessly without snagging or tangling. This helps prevent those frustrating knots that can occur during winding, making the process smoother and more enjoyable.

The outer parts of the swift are designed for an interference fit. This means you'll need to apply some force to combine them during assembly, but this tight fit is what makes the swift exceptionally stable and reliable once put together.

Despite being made from PLA, this swift is designed with inherent stability, providing a reliable platform for everything from delicate lace weights to bulky wool. Thats why the print profile is set to strong and the whole project is not optimized for saving material, rather having a string and durable yarn swift.

The plastic material itself with the smooth surface can be quite slippery on wood surfaces. If despite the clamp used, the swift is moving on the desk (or whereever you mounted it), it's recommendet to put some anti slip material underneath the swift. I did not needed it as the clamp can be tighten quite strong if printed in PETG.

The clamp used in the picture was the following (scaled up to 135%): https://makerworld.com/de/models/1748658-clamp#profileId-1858812
