I've long intended to design my own deck box that fixes a lot of what I dislike about others I see online. Well, I finally sat down to do it, and I'm very happy with the result. It is a fully parametric design that I am excited to add custom art to as well once I finalize the functional design. I think I've come to the end of iterations without any feedback, so now I'm wanting to post this to get some feedback from others! Please print this out and let me know what you think! What do you like about it, and most importantly, what do you wish was better or different? Any features you wish it had that it doesn't?
October 24, 2025 update: I’ve finally had some time to continue development on this! I should be releasing a new and improved version soon. Follow me on here to make sure you don’t miss it!
Upcoming changes:
Will support (optional) added magnets for a longer-lasting tight fit
This will also allow me to add more space by default to the lid gap and improve the fit for some who have had trouble with the fit of the lid being too tight before using the customizer to loosen it
I'm still going to play around with improving the magnet-less version and have some ideas to do so. I still love the simplicity of not needing extra hardware or assembly, and I know many users will avoid anything that requires them to purchase additional hardware like magnets
Will now have a separate version that supports attachments like dice/counter carriers and anything else you could think of!
Photos included of this below! Please share any ideas for what the attachments could be used for in the comments!
Improved resistance to warping and some negative visual artifacts while printing
More parametric/customizable
This means you’ll be able to change more things in the customizer to customize this for your application!
This will allow users to add 2 top loaders to the front for partner commanders, modify the fit to use a snap case instead of a top loader, change this to work for a 60 card deck, or 120 triple sleeved cards, whatever you can think up!
This slide on the back could allow printing a “carrier” for your decks to attach them all together for easier transportation and neater storage. Still brainstorming on this, because I don't quite know how exactly that should look yet!
This isn't final yet, but here's some images of the future version at its current stage in development. I've done lots of lid tests with magnets and am very happy with them. I'll have separate versions for just the deck box and the deck box + attachments. These pictured are of the version that includes the dice box attachment and places for magnets. I've printed these parts with the attachment, but won't be able to test them until tomorrow night:
Once this new version is where I like it, I'll finally add some art to these new lids and share them on here! Sorry for the delay on that!
July 1, 2025 update: Added support for MakerLab Parametric tool so you can set the deck thickness and add additional lid tolerance if you have fit issues. I would advise adjusting it by very small amounts as it removes that much from the mating faces on the lid on both sides. So you essentially add a gap to the lid of double the value you set. Also, this tolerance value only modifies the lid so you do not have to print additional base pieces using more material to dial in your fit. For most with Bambu printers, this tolerance adjustment should not be necessary. Only adjust it if you have fit issues.

Design goals met:
Lid secures well and satisfyingly without any additional hardware (magnets) needed.
Lid secures in a way where it is impossible to hold it by the lid in a way where the deck box can detach from the lid, falling to the ground, and spilling your cards everywhere
Lid won't come off unless you intentionally take it off
Uses minimal filament
Durable
Easy to take cards in and out
Fully parametric to adapt to thicker proxy decks, double sleeved decks, or even different card counts.
Beautifully displays commander card in a top loader
Additional features I'm planning in the future:
grooves in the side for your fingers to fit down into for a more satisfying and secure grip when carrying
expansion slots for attaching other deck boxes together or attaching dice/counter carrying cases
Additional variations that accommodate storing commander card in one of those thicker, sealed card cases.
This is as simple as changing some of the parameters
Also, heres a teaser for some of the designs I've made to add to these cases once the functional design is finalized!
