Inspired by a recent vacation in Norway I have created a handfull of models of well known Norwegian Stave Churches. I really like their unique all wooden architecture and mystical appearance. I have visited all five churches over the years, and this is a tribute to the Viking architects who constructed these fine buildinings almost a thousand years ago. The churches are:
- Urnes Stavkirke, a UNESCO world heritage site now in a remote location on the end of the Sognefjord. It is sited wonderfully above the fjord with a gorgeous panorama view. The Viking real estate agents really new that location is everyting.
- Borgund Stavkirke, probably the best-known and most visited stave church, on the old road from Oslo to the Sognefjord.
- Hopperstad Stavkirke in Vik on the Sognefjord, almost a copy of the Borgund churc
- Lom Stavkirke, in the town center of Lom, remodeled a couple of times over the centuries
- Uvdal Stavkirke, off the main tracks in the remote Numedal, sited high above the valley with a wonderful panorama view. Now part of an outdoor museum with a couple of preserved rural Norwegian farm buildings.
I have included the STL files as well as the colored .3MF print files for Bamboo Lab printers (4 colors).
