Emergency Key Holder

This is a compact, single-use emergency keyholder designed to embed a physical key directly inside a printed enclosure. Once sealed, the key can only be accessed by breaking open the print—ideal for situations that require delayed access or tamper evidence.

The internal pocket is sized for flat keys such as the Burg Wachter ME/2 or compatible clones. The finished piece has a clean, discreet design that stores easily and blends into a drawer, cabinet, or toolkit.

🗝️ Key Embedding Instructions

This print is designed to seal a metal key inside the model. It requires two pauses during printing:

1. You need to add a pause to layer 14 of the print.  This will be when you place the key in the pocket on the model
2. Start the print and allow layer one to complete
3. While the print is starting, clean the key thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol to remove any oils or residue. Place the key on some part of the bed that isn't being used by the print.  This allows the key to get up to temperature and make the filament bridge better over the key
4. When the print pauses place the key in the pocket on the print.   Check that the top of the key is fully below the current layer height. If the key protrudes above the print, the nozzle may crash or be damaged.
5. Resume the print. The remaining layers will seal the key inside the enclosure.

I recommend you make an initial test block and then break it to make sure it will break cleanly.  You may have to reduce your infill if the holder doesn't break away cleanly.
