🦖 RoboRex Toy Grabber – Built to Chomp!

Say hello to RoboRex, the dino-bot grabber with bite!
 

This playful, kid-friendly grabber was designed with Fusion 360 from the ground up. This is my first full model built entirely in Fusion 360 after relying on Blender. The idea came after a trip to the Chicago Science Museum, where my two boys picked out cool dinosaur grabbers… that promptly broke before we even got home. I knew I could do better.
 

RoboRex is my answer: a more durable, mechanical take on the classic dino grabber toy. With bold blocky jaws, a pivoting bite action, and a retro-mech aesthetic, this guy’s ready to chomp his way through any toybox or backyard safari.

🧰 Other Parts & Assembly Notes:

• Glue will probably be needed as well as some other slight tolerances issues.
• String: I used a single inner strand from some 5/50 cord I had on hand.
• Spring: The mouth uses a torsion spring to provide that nice snapping action. I used one of the medium-sized springs from this Amazon kit, which fit perfectly and gives the jaws a satisfying snap without being too stiff.

• There's a slot for the spring to sit in and on the upper and lower jaw.
