Support young learners in mastering correct letter formation while also building words! These puzzle-style stencils are based on the NSW Foundation font, designed for early writers. Each piece features directional arrows and stroke numbers to guide proper handwriting formation.

Includes multiple print profiles for best results across different printer setups. Capitals and lowercase letters provided, with alternative letters for lowercase k and capital I, to help cater to different styles. 

 

1. Facedown Coloured Insert – High Detail Finish (Supertack Plate Highly Recommended)

Left: Alternative non-looped k
Right: Standard Foundation looped k

• Printed facedown with coloured arrow inserts
• Supertack plate + hilbert curve bottom layer = premium surface quality
• Crisp results, but requires perfect bed adhesion. The arrows print first; this gives a lovely result but really needs a clean plate and perfact adhesion. I have tried using the textured plate and the print failed, so use the supertack plate or print the face up profile!
• Built-in supports for tight external corners (don't worry, they pop off cleanly)

2. Face-Up, Cut Out Arrows – Colour Change Version

📸 Image 2 (Capital F and lowercase f tiles)
Left (blue F): Facedown, colour inserts using matte filament
Right (white and green f): Face-up, cut-out arrows with colour change

• Arrows and stroke numbers are engraved into the top layer
• Easier print than facedown profile
• Matte filament gives a smoother finish than basic PLA, but may not be as durable.

 

3. Face-Up Single-Colour (No Colour Change)

Left (green G): Single colour using basic filament
Right (white and green g): Matte white top layer, better contrast and feel. 

• Easy to print, but top finish may be less polished
• Optional: try ironing top layer. Test carefully to avoid squishing details
