Description

This is an ESC Cooling Air Scoop designed for the Horizon Hobby E-flite Turbo Timber 1.5m and Turbo Timber Evolution 1.5m models.

The set includes an external air scoop and an internal air deflector, both of which weigh less than 5g when printed in PLA.

To install the air scoop, gently press it onto the desired location on the plane. Using an X-Acto knife or a narrow-blade utility knife, carefully cut along the markings left by the air scoop on the foam.

You will need to cut through approximately 2 cm of foam, so take care not to damage any wires inside the model.

After creating the hole, press the air scoop into place. It should fit snugly without the need for glue.

The internal deflector is then installed in the same manner on the inside of the model, pressed into the hole created for the external air scoop.

I positioned mine on the belly of the nose, between the landing gear and the plastic motor cowling, right where the foam hump from the original air scoop ends. Please see the pictures for reference.

When printing, I used supports primarily to prevent the object from detaching from the print bed. I tried printing without supports, but the scoop released from the plate a few layers before completion.
