Description
My first take on a parametric model made specifically for the online parametric editor here on MakerWorld.
The model is made in Fusion and has been test printed after each major edit. Every iteration is verified both digitally and with physical print to make sure there are no errors making the model un usable.
I though I should provide a quick and crude demo of the process of the modelling so here is a short video of the steps (not the parametric setup and formulas in use)
Flange: The total diameter of the spool (mm)
(Beware there will be an additional 6mm added to the total diameter of the model as the lip of the flange is hardcoded to be 3mm wide)
Traverse: The width of the spool (mm)
(Beware there will be an additional 6mm added tot the total width of the model as the endplates is hardcoded to be 3mm thick)
Cord: The diameter of the cord you're printing this spool for (mm)
(This setting adjust the size of the securing holes in the core as well as at the outer edge of the flange to match your cord)
Holes Endplate: Select how many holes you want in the flange (pcs)
(Due to the way this is modelled this option will automatically adjust to the nearest odd number within the range of 3 to 7)
Barrel: The diameter of the center barrel (mm)
(The size of the core will dramatically impact how many m/ft you can fit on the spool. Choose carefully)
Endplate Core: The diameter of the solid center “ring” in the endplate.
(This option is used to adjust the size of the square holes in the endplate)
For easy calculation of which size spool you'll need you can use this cable reel capacitor calculator from SAMM Teknoloji
