Want a realistic life-size replica of the M33 Frag Grenade with a realistic flying handle when you pull the pin? The M33 was the predecessor to the M67 grenade that is used today.
What is the M33? The M33 is an American fragmentation hand grenade featuring a semi-spherical body filled with Composition B explosive. It was developed to replace earlier M26 series “lemon” grenades used in the Korean War and has a smooth surface, unlike the "pineapple" casing of the Mk 2 grenade.
Spring options
Metal Spring (recommended) – if you have a metal spring, even a pen spring will often work, then print the metal spring profile. It is designed to work with the Bambu Store's 0.5x7x12mm spring (linked lower on the page). If you use a pen spring, you can usually cut it in half and get two springs.
Plastic Spring – if you don't have a metal spring, but still want the handle to fly off, then print the plastic spring profile. (see details below for more info about plastic spring).
Don't leave the spring under tension when not using it as it will wear out much faster.
Avoid Matte and Silk filament for the spring itself, Basic and Metal work better.
If you want a spring that lasts longer, consider using the metal spring version, keep in mind even pen springs usually work.
Print-in-Place Spring (prototype) – this is a brand new plastic spring I designed and tested – I'm interested to hear what you think of it in the comments. I've found it to be more durable than the plastic spring used in previous models and it springs immediately on the print-bed (print-in-place).
No Flying Handle - if you don't want the handle to fly off and just want a grenade model, simply print the metal spring profile and don't put a spring in it.
