Version 3 of my dragon scale chainmail. A 3D printed and flexible model that combines design and functionality.
In this new version, I have improved the base of the model to minimise breakage at the connection points between the scales. The result is a more solid, strong and durable structure, without compromising the flexibility of the material.
Each flake remains completely modular and interchangeable. You can easily add, remove or replace them to create the configuration you prefer, without reprinting the entire design.
The flake chain continues to be perfect for aesthetic applications, cosplay, historical re-enactments or decorative solutions. Thanks to its flexibility, it easily adapts to curved and irregular surfaces.
In this version, I have also added numerous inserts that make the pattern even more dynamic. You can customise the arrangement of the scales and inserts to suit your needs, creating unique and functional combinations without having to reprint the entire structure.
For printing I recommend
- smooth surface with a light layer of lacquer or glue
- speed of the first layer less than 30 mm/s for optimal adhesion
Even if some flakes show defects during printing, do not stop the process. You can replace it later thanks to the modularity of the design.
The Dragon Scale Chainmail V3 represents a step forward in robustness and reliability, while maintaining the creative freedom that is the hallmark of this project.
