Description
This casing is visually dedicated to the Cudy TR3000 (AX3000) Wifi6 Router - which run on OpenWRT :) (Chinese or clean image)
(but of course it will work with practically any device that needs 5v, and up to 3A)
Inside we mount the UPS board, which can be found on AliExpress under the name "15W 3A 18650 ups module" - it is important to choose the version with a 5v output! (because 9v and 12v are also available).
(this router power supply is rated 5V 3A, but in real life THIS router do not consume more than 0.4-0.5A in idle, or 0.8-0.9A in heavy wifi etc load. 3A is overkill for scenario, eg. when you connect some additional HDD drive to USB3.0 of this router). So - 3A board is enough, trust me ;)
https://aliexpress.com/item/1005005279833307.html etc (remember - 5v, and check it two times! if you connect 9 or 12v = it will damage router!)
This module has space for two 18650 batteries (they are connected in parallel) - you can safely use it with one battery, with two, and also with 4 or more (connected outside) - the backup time will increase, but also the charging time (the charging current is constant and limited to about 1.5A, for all batteries)
I'm posting different versions here:
- with or without a battery charge indicator (cheap 1S indicator from AliExpress)
- with a double USB-A socket output (like in motherboards etc.)
- with a 3x USB-C output a small socket that I found on aliexpress bungle deals (5pcs for 1.79$):
- or with a complete set of all outputs types ;)
I have 3x usb-A connector from old mainboard, and use here.
Ofc - you must solder only +5v and GND outside pins, internal D- and D+ is not used.
outputs can be switched on/off by typical switch like this:
Bottom cover is screwed with two M3 (rather countersunk) screws, for which- there is space (in the base) for 2 heat-inserts.
