Wall / Tabletop Picture Frame (Parametric)

It's a great way to decorate an interior. The frame will reliably hold your favorite photo or picture, whether on the wall or top of a piece of furniture, in a horizontal or vertical orientation.

I prepared frame print files with all possible variations for the following paper formats: A4 (210 x 297 mm), Letter (216 x 279 mm), A5 (148 x 210 mm), 13x18 / 5x7 (127 × 178 mm), 10x15 / 4x6 (102 x 152 mm).

Additionally, you can use the Fusion 360 .f3d file to prepare any option of the Picture Frame for a custom paper size. The design will allow you to set the following parameters: 

• Paper width and height.
• Paper maximum thickness. 0.6 mm by default.
• The overlap area size on the perimeter of the picture. A range of 2 to 6 mm is recommended.
• Print tolerance. 0.1 mm by default. Adjust if the bolts go too tight or loose.

Frame size is limited by the print area you have. The bottleneck is the width of the longer side frame part placed diagonally on a print bed. For example, the A4 297 mm frame part is close to the maximum that a 256x256 print area can be used for.

The frame base (back part) of any configuration can be divided into two parts to allow printing on smaller bed sizes. Make sure you print the special long side frame parts for a divided base. It requires two additional bolts on each longer frame side to assemble.

Print tips:

• Frame parts require no supports if placed in the correct orientation, as in preset files.
• Use brim for the long frame parts to avoid wrapping.
• Use 100% infill for bolts to provide their reliability.
• To save material, you can print the wall mount frame base without the top surface layers (it looks good with 10% hexagonal infill). Use at least four walls, then.

Assemble tips:

• Screw the three frame parts to the base part/parts, insert the picture or photo, then screw the last frame part.
• Tighten the bolts using a coin (knife, card, etc.). Not overtighten.
• To hang a picture on a non-traditional hook, you can add a rope between two bolts on the top frame part. Tie it when the bolts are almost screwed. Then tighten the bolts.
