A ground-up redesign of my popular AMS Riser remixes V1 and V2 — now purpose-built for the Bambu Lab P2S & X2D. Reuses V2 drawers & most community add-ons, adds a 4-slot build-plate rack, refined side window system, cleaner front geometry, and a new top connector in front of the AMS. No extra LEDs (P2S & X2D lighting is sufficient and avoids AI interference).
After the success of my AMS Riser V1/V2 for the P1/X1 series, I rebuilt the concept from scratch for the P2S. At a glance it may look familiar, but the details are all new: tighter tolerances that still print reliably on non-perfectly calibrated machines, a stronger interlock via the new side-window parts, a 4-plate storage rack under the drawers, and a new top connector right in front of the AMS for accessories like HotEnds.
I originally paused riser work due to licensing changes and because P2S doesn’t need the old “lid-off for PLA/PETG ventilation” or lighting fixes. But community demand convinced me to deliver a true P2S version—while keeping waste low by reusing your existing V2 drawers and many side/rear add-ons.
What’s new vs. V2
- 4-Slot Build-Plate Holder:
Integrated beneath the drawers (I used to store 2—now it’s 4, which proved to be the sweet spot here). - Reworked Side Window System:
The window isn’t just cosmetic; it mechanically ties Parts 1–4 together. The engagement and stiffness are improved again in V3. - Refined Clearances:
Gap dimensions are further tuned for a snug look yet forgiving prints. - Cleaner Front Geometry:
The front no longer overlaps the printer’s front edge. (I tested an overlapping variant; this layout won for usability and looks—feel free to mod your own.) - New Top Connector (in front of the AMS):
Ready for accessories. My Hotend Holders already fit; I’ll publish a shorter variant for a cleaner P2S look. You can also mount a simple nameplate or anything the community dreams up. - No Extra Light Bar:
The P2S light is adequate (not perfect, but good enough), and additional lights can affect the AI detection in my tests—so V3 intentionally ships without integrated lighting. - Weight savings (V2 → V3):
V3 trims mass from 1860 g to 1500 g—a reduction of ≈360 g (~19%). That means less plastic, shorter print time, and lower material cost, while the redesigned interlocks and clearances keep stiffness and fit where it matters.
Compatibility & Reuse
- Designed for: Bambu Lab P2S (form factor & clearances tailored to the P2S).
- Backward reuse: Existing V2 drawers and most V2 side/rear add-ons are reusable to reduce waste and keep your ecosystem intact.
Printing & Material Notes
- Material: PETG recommended (the build chamber stays closed; I moved away from PLA as the default here).
(I’m releasing now without polished product shots and before a full step-by-step assembly guide—so you don’t have to wait longer.)
Lighting & AI Note
Additional LED strips can change the P2S AI detection behavior. Since the stock P2S lighting is adequate, V3 avoids any integrated LEDs by design.
Optional fasteners (not required):
- BT3×8 self-tapping screws: used to secure Parts 5 & 6 to Parts 1 & 2 for extra rigidity.
- BT3×6 self-tapping screws: used for the Top Connector (the connector itself is optional).
The Riser holds together without these screws or glue (press-fit is sufficient for most prints). Use them only if you want added stiffness or frequent handling durability.
Happy Printing and Fun with the new Riser V3 for P2s only
