Description
My wife has an older Trek Hybrid bike with SRAM Grip Shift 3.0 Plus twist shifters.Â
It's a decent commuter bike from the 2000's that works perfectly, only the rubber on the grip shift perished. It went all doughy and comes off on your hands. I decided to create a replacement grip with TPU95.Â
Â
The original has two grooves with the embossed text for Grip Shift on top. That holds the grip in place. I reproduced these grooves, unfortunately they cover the text, but it's the functionality that matters. The grip stays on and is a slightly better shape. a comfortable rounded pentagon shape for easy grip and twisting.Â
NOTE: My printer profile is set with fuzzy printing as you can see in the photo's. This hides the layer lines and offers more grip for easier twisting.
Installation:
To install these, you have to pull and twist the small end cap part of the grip. For some reason these don't corrode with age like the twist part of the grip. You also have to peel off the old rubber from the twister part of the grip. Mine had so perished it was easy to do, I cleaned off the remainder of black goo with goo off. The grip just pushes on.
Â
I know that bikes with these old SRAM shifters are probably quite rare today. Hopefully someone will find my file useful.Â
