Description
These compatible tracks are primarily designed for two color printing for a more real-life look. I suggest using a wood-filament for the base, like in my test prints, or a flat gray concrete colored one. Then use a metallic one for the rail and the studs. I used PLA in the test prints.
I opted for a semi-studded version since the studs will have the same color as the track if you only want a single color change, and too many colored stud made the design look cluttered.
To print in a single color, simply map both colors to the same filament. Do not join the geometry as the print settings of the two are different in the print profiles I supply.
The snap-fit of the tracks can be a bit loose depending on the filament and printer used. I suggest using my special 2x4 Track Lock Brick to both make sure the track pieces stays connected during play while also hiding the additional studs for a cleaner overall look.
You can of course use a regular flat 2x4 piece or print one like the ones called “Legostein Fliesen” from Christian. However, both those options can stick a little too well and be very hard to remove since they sit pretty much flush with the track. My 2x4 Track Lock Brick saves your nails discretely wraps around the track to give you an edge to easily push the lock piece off the track pieces.
