Description
This model demonstrates the function of a ball screw as a linear motion mechanism.
It takes 4mm bearing balls and includes a funnel for loading the balls into the ball nut.
The screw has a center tube that accepts a 12mm carbon fiber rod and glue for assembly.
This screw isn't particularly smooth and real precision ball screws can be found for less than $30.
That being said, examining this model will give you a better understanding of how the recirculating ball nut functions and which surfaces are important in the operation of the mechanism.
Perfect for a Saturday afternoon project.
