Description
Overview
This is a very simple, minimalist light switch cover. Two embedded magnets snap directly onto the mounting screws of the original gang wall plate. Keeping the original plate was a deliberate design decision, since it is made from fire retardant material. Most 3D prints use PLA or PETG, which are not fire retardant, so for safety reasons the original plate remains in place, while the printed cover acts purely as a removable functional/aesthetic layer.
Custom Labels
The custom label feature is a small but thoughtful addition, and genuinely useful when needed. For example, I have a switch connected to my 3D printer that needs to stay on, so I labeled it “STAY ON”. If you no longer need the label, it can be mounted behind the cover, where it serves both as built-in storage and a subtle design detail. When printed in a contrasting color, it adds a clean color accent to the cover.
The included print profiles already come with common labels such as “STAY ON”, “STAY OFF”, and “BROKEN”. If you need different text and find Bambu Lab Studio a bit overwhelming, feel free to leave a request in the comments.
Installation Tips
Push the magnets in slightly deeper to offset the screw head. The 6x3 magnets will have a snug fit, one simple trick is to place one magnet flat on a hard surface, such as a countertop, then align the hole over it and press the printed part down onto the magnet. Make sure to protect the surface underneath before pressing. If you need any help, feel free to reach out.
