This hand-powered vacuum cleaner CrankVac is a fully functional, mechanically driven device featuring a compact airflow system and a high-ratio transmission. The design integrates a double-stage planetary gearbox, a high-speed turbine, and a cyclone separator into a fully 3D-printed assembly.

The model produces real suction and demonstrates how mechanical power is converted into airflow using a compact gear reduction and turbine system. Its open and modular construction allows clear insight into the interaction between gearbox, turbine, and cyclone.

Important Notes

• ⚠️ Mandatory gearbox lubrication
  Thorough greasing of the entire gearbox is absolutely required for proper operation and durability. Insufficient lubrication will cause excessive friction, heat buildup, and premature gear failure.
• ⚠️ Cordless drill operation
  A cordless drill can be connected to the input shaft, but high torque and sudden acceleration may damage or destroy the hex interface of the first gearbox stage. Operate only at low speed and low torque.
• ⚠️ Material requirement
  All gearbox components must be printed in PETG or a stronger filament.
  PLA is not suitable, as it cannot withstand:
  • friction-generated heat
  • mechanical load
  • long-term wear in high-speed gear applications
