Description
Wire spool hangers for wire shelving (the shelving used is the ClosetMaid 12" wire shelving found at most big box hardware stores). Each hanger is four pieces (two side hangers, a center spool holder, and a front plate) that snap together. I've included SNAP and Fusion files so you can easily adjust the width of the spool holder and front plate to accommodate varying widths of spools by adjusting the “spool_width” parametric variable. You can also adjust the diameter of the wire holding wedge in the front plate by opening that sketch and adjusting that circle's diameter.
Note that I've made these so that you can pass the wire over the horizontal rod in the metal shelves, then back behind the front plate. Then you can pull the wire through the wedge to keep it in place. This prevents the spools from unwinding on their own too easily.
To install these, first snap one hanger to the small spool holding piece. Feed that through the spool so the wire hangs downward at the back of the hangers (the side with the smaller hook). Then snap the other hanger onto the spool holder piece. Feed the longer hooks through the front edge of the wire shelf, then swing the assembly up and pop the smaller hooks over the rear horizontal shelving rod. Snap those smaller hooks in place. Then snap the front plate onto the assembly to lock it in place. Look at the included photo to see what this looks like when completed.
I used Sunlu PLA+ for this, but I imagine it'd work with many different filaments.
