Description
My electronics hobby requires having different types of electrical wire around: different colours, different sections (AWG 26, AWG 28, etc…) and different groupings (single, paired, 4 lines, etc…). I don't buy these in great quantities, as such they come loose without a spool.
This model solves this problem in, what I think, is the fastest, most versatile and cheapest way.
Â
I provide 2 different spool widths, each on a different plate: 30mm, my favourite, and 13mm.
Â
Also please note there are two print profiles: one uses thinner side pieces, letting the spool side flex a bit, the other has stiffer sides which do not flex when print in PLA.
Fix the wire to the core with some electrical tape or use the hole close to the central axis provided on the side pieces. Then, wind the wire onto the spool, finally use any of the slots on the side like for filament on filament spools to prevent the wire from self-unwinding.
Â
Winding the wire along the spool can be tedious. Two additional plates contain the pieces to create a winding solution to be used with an electric screwdriver to speed up the process in case you are not patient. You only need to print one of those plates, depending on whether you wish to use an M5 hex bolt or an M6 hex bolt.
