3D‑Printed Honeycomb Riser for Laser Cutting (Supports 3mm–6mm Materials)

This 3D‑printed honeycomb riser is designed to elevate your material above the laser bed, improving airflow and dramatically reducing backside scorching on wood, acrylic, and other sheet materials. The riser provides consistent lift for 3mm, 4mm, 5mm, and 6mm stock, making it a versatile addition to any laser‑cutting setup.

A precision‑sized slot accepts a 30×10×3 mm rectangular magnet, allowing the riser to lock securely onto the honeycomb surface. Unlike round magnets—which tend to rock or tilt on the grid—the rectangular magnet sits flat across multiple honeycomb cells, giving the riser a more stable, level, and reliable hold during cutting.

There are left and right options just because I wanted the text to be seen when looking straight at them.  I have also added a sample photo that I cut of 3mm basswood plywood with and without the riser.

This was printed in PLA Basic with default (auto - not tree) supports for the magnet insert.
